Farm & Highland Cow Experiences

A hands-on farming experience in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park

Farm Experiences

Step into real farm life in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park

Our two to three hour farm experience offers a genuine insight into life on a working Yorkshire Dales farm, with a particular focus on our much-loved herd of Highland cows.

You’ll spend time feeding animals, gathering sheep, moving stock and exploring the estate, while learning about traditional farming practices, dry-stone walls and the landscape that shapes Wensleydale. Along the way, enjoy truly spectacular views across the Dale.

What to Expect

As part of the experience, you’ll travel around the farm in our Land Rover Defender, giving access to areas most visitors never see. Depending on the season, you’ll help feed and care for our Highland cattle and South Devon beef herd, assist with moving stock, and get involved in day-to-day farm jobs.

We’re also home to rare breed pigs, who always need feeding — and for the energetic, there may even be mucking out involved. This is a working farm, and no two visits are ever the same.

Every experience can be tailored to suit your interests, whether you’d like to spend more time with particular animals or focus on specific aspects of farm life.
